Community Protocols
How knowledge is shared responsibly on the Native Grains Knowledge Hub.
Consent comes first
Traditional and cultural knowledge is shared only with the free, prior and informed consent of the relevant Grains Custodians. Consent can be withdrawn at any time and the post will be removed. Removing a post takes it off the hub, but can't recall copies already seen, emailed or screenshotted.
Community holds authority
Aboriginal communities and the Grains Custodians decide what is shared, where and with whom, and the hub team follows their direction.
The right place for each kind of knowledge
Open groups are for practical growing, harvesting, processing and cooking. Private groups are for Country-based and cultural knowledge, and group admins approve who joins. For Country groups, the relevant Grains Custodians also approve who joins. Some knowledge is not shared online at all, including sacred or secret knowledge and exact harvest locations.
Credit and benefit
Members keep ownership of what they share. Name where knowledge comes from. By joining, members agree not to publish, reproduce or commercially use knowledge shared here without its knowledge holders' permission, and to share any benefits fairly with the communities it comes from. AI-generated content is never presented as Indigenous knowledge.
Privacy
Raising a concern
Member profiles are visible only to signed-in members. Please don't screenshot, copy or share posts from private groups anywhere else. Breaching this can lead to removal from the hub.
If something has been shared without consent, or a post makes you uncomfortable, use Report on the post or contact a group admin. Admins are notified of reports and can remove any post straight away. Grains Custodians are group admins for the groups they oversee.
